2007 is shaping up to be a very active year for design-build legislation since all 50 state legislatures will meet in session this year. Two states will carryover legislation from 2006, New Jersey and Virginia. In both states existing design –build bills introduced in 2006 will be carried over to the 2007 session. 20 additional states have introduced new design-build legislation so far in 2007. In February, Wyoming, until recently a state with no design-build laws, signed into law new design-build authority for public projects!
DBIA is working closely with these states and the DBIA chapters that represent these states to provide resources and assistance as the bills move through the legislative process. Additional design-build legislation will be introduced in other states as they begin their legislative sessions. Visit the Advocacy section for more information. |
